MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
The Direct Care Worker shall have a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent. At least one year of recent related experience is preferred. Must also be able to demonstrate strong verbal communication skills, have knowledge of gentle teaching principles, have knowledge of community resources, exhibit a supportive and responsible attitude to enhance a positive environment, and be able to perform the duties of the position adequately with minimal supervision.
(Direct Care Workers must obtain DCW certification) via required training as well as obtain/ maintain certification in adult CPR/First Aid, and a chauffeur’s license. Michigan chauffeur's license with less than six (6) current points (per Michigan law), as applicable to the program.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Orientate new residents to facility, perform search of personal belongings for contraband, record and store belongings prohibited on unit and escort to room.
Provide routine personal care assistance for residents, which may include bathing, oral hygiene, grooming, toileting, dressing, feeding, etc.
Complete assigned laundry responsibilities, including assisting residents with personal laundry as needed. Ensure supplies of clean linens and proper return of soiled linens.
Complete general facility cleaning assignments, and inform program Coordinator of
furniture, facility, equipment requiring repair or replacement. Ensure facility has adequate supplies and they are organized and stored properly.
Complete assigned documentation responsibilities in the electronic health record system (EHR) in an accurate and timely manner.
Measure and record residents vital signs as directed by nurse, as applicable.
Assist and monitor residents with daily activities, including assisting nursing and clinical staff with patient behavior management, answering phones and relaying messages in a timely and accurate manner.
Obtain and distribute meals for patients from food service vendor, ensuring daily food counts are timely and accurate, and reporting any problems with food temperature, quality or quanity to Coordinator.
Provide and/or arrange resident transportation to and from the facility for admission/ discharge and/or doctor appointments during stay. · Complete errands to purchase supplies for program/residents in community as requested by Coordinator and or Nursing.
Must be able to assist clients with daily living tasks as needed, including lifting up to approximately 30-40 pounds. · Must be able to walk/stand up to 50% of an 8-hour work shift.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $10.00 - $14.08 per hour
