What does a Direct Support Professional (DSP) do?

The Direct Support Professional serves as a mentor, supporter, and advocate for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities.

• Duties depend on the needs of the people you’re supporting. Some duties can include, but are not limited to:

• Meal preparation and mealtime assistance

• Cleaning and household upkeep

• Ensuring the person’s hygiene and personal upkeep needs are met

• Helping the person obtain and maintain employment

• Providing transportation to and from places of the person’s choice

• Administration of medications (medication certified personnel only)

• Mobility equipment operation and repositioning

• Helps people learn new skills, maintain skills, and explore new opportunities for personal growth

• Safeguards the funds of people supported and obtains receipts for purchases, as applicable

• Assists individuals to succeed in all outcomes defined in the person's ISP, with follow through on all documentation of progress, barriers, information learned, and completion

• Facilitates and encourages building and maintenance of relationships that are important to the person

• Completion of all required documentation with a focus on detail, accuracy, and respectful language

Hours and Shifts Available

Part Time / Full Time / PRN

Monday-Friday and Saturday-Sunday

Weekend Availability Preferred

Pay: From $12.00 per hour
