With primary focus on Annual Giving, the Director of Development will play a key role in the expansion of the fundraising program, primarily by directing a comprehensive Annual Fund and Constituent Engagement Program. The Director will expand the base of philanthropic support, solicit special and annual gifts, and provide strategic direction for the Annual Giving Program. Occasional meetings at different CCC locations and in the community may be required; travel for conferences, cultivation, and solicitation may be required. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Strategy 25%Create, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive, multi-year plan to increase donors and dollars in support of SUNY CCC, including all solicitation vehicles, segmentation, timing, messages, and goals Oversee the development and execution of a donor stewardship plan, ensuring an appropriate level of frequency of impactful and meaningful stewardship for donors at all levels of givingWork with Executive Director to develop an annual budget, including setting realistic income targets and managing expenditures within budget constraintsDevelop and implement a comprehensive engagement plan for all stakeholders including communications such as newsletters, social media, and email communications Promote, communicate, and publicize fundraising initiatives through a variety of channels, including e-newsletters and the College’s website pages Annual Giving 40%Develop specific strategies to increase donor retention, upgrades, and acquisition ? Organize Direct and Electronic Annual Fund solicitations and events, including timing and nature of appeals, writing copy, working with outside vendors (as necessary) to manage all aspects of production and execution Conduct personal solicitations, as well as staffing/briefing Executive Director and/or the President to facilitate solicitations by them, where appropriate.Manage stewardship activities to assure regular contact with donors by President, Executive Director, Foundation Board Directors or other key individuals Work with Assistant Director of Advancement Support Services to interpret and analyze prospect data within Raiser’s Edge and identify prospects that have Major Gift potentialCollaborate with CCCDF staff to develop a comprehensive fundraising program with the objective of increasing overall donated dollars, enlarging the donor/prospect database, and successfully achieving the annual established goals Serve as liaison to the Foundation’s Resource Development CommitteeConstituent Engagement 35%Foster relationships with current and future constituents to meet fundraising goalsFoster connections with various communities of interest, including but not limited to: alumni, friends of the College, community members, businesses, vendors, employees, and retirees Maintain communications with constituents to encourage long-term relationships and develop/expand donor support for the College Develop and manage an annual calendar of engagement and cultivation activities for alumni, internal and external community, and donors to maximize constituent engagement Develop, implement, and maintain an Alumni Program Committee planServe as liaison to the Foundation’s Alumni Program Committee
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent interpersonal skills, oral & written communication skills, along with outstanding organizational and time management skills Computer literate, including proficiency in MS Office products and other software systems (familiarity with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge or similar product preferred) Familiarity with resource development programs, such as capital campaigns, endowments, annual and planned giving programs Confident and collegial in working with the campus, public, and community leaders ? Ability to work with confidential material Ability to work well under pressure Understanding of budgets, planning, and assessment processes Ability to work flexible hours and nights/weekends, as needed Ability to effectively convey information verbally and in writing, demonstrate effective listening skills, and display respect for and openness to other people’s ideas and thoughts Ability to professionally represent the College to varying external communities of interest and develop positive relationships with those groups, as well as with individual donors Demonstrated ability to lead others through the establishment of strong professional relationships; ability to influence and work collaboratively with internal constituents across all levels of the College Demonstrate commitment to accomplishing work in an ethical, efficient, and cost-effective manner Ability to accept changes to job requirements, policies, workload, etc., as well as learn new methods, procedures, or techniques resulting from change with the ability to clearly approach problems and find solutions Demonstrated support for developing a more diverse, inclusive, and culturally aware community
