Masonic Medical Research Institute (MMRI) is seeking a full-time DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT to join our team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a creative and energetic leader in development.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership, strategic direction, management, and coordination for all aspects of the program’s development, marketing and communications efforts including the implementation of a Strategic Development Plan.
• Execute the development and implementation of social marketing, public and media relations, website content, communication/resource development materials and brand management.
• Oversee a broad portfolio of major gift prospects at various stages of their relationship with MMRI, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Actively seek and qualify new prospects for the MMRI major gift pipeline. Proactively work to engage and cultivate all new prospects identified. Complete and maintain current data tracking for the entire prospect portfolio in NXT. This includes timely completion of contact reports, updating prospect stages, next step tasks, and proposals.
• Develops articles for donor newsletter.
• Select, hire, and manage public relations, advertising and marketing firms, and freelance writers.
• Attend events, activities and participate in training activities for the Development team designed for this purpose.

• Bachelor’s degree required. 5-7 years of frontline major gift experience with demonstrated ability to grow a donor prospect base and successfully close five and six-figure individual and institutional gifts.
• Experience working in academic medical or complex research institutions strongly preferred. Experience working with foundations and/or corporations is preferred.
• Must have the ability to evaluate problems accurately and display good, sound, and confidential judgment. Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and efficient. Must be collaborative, conscientious, and results oriented.
• Excellent public speaking, presentation skills and written communication skills required.
• Computer literacy required; must have experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and appropriate databases, such as Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT, or similar donor management software.
• Travel up to 25%, depending on internal assignments.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
