The Director of Finance and Operations reports to the Executive Director and partners with the Director of Student Services and the Directors of Teaching and Learning. The Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students and staff to support the Polaris Tech enterprise. This position has direct management and oversight of all financial matters, contract services, payroll, purchasing, and human resources requirements.

The position also has oversight responsibilities of facilities, legal, and other Polaris Tech operational obligations and support personnel.

The job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to -

Financial Management

  • Manage all financial transactions, including revenue activities, expenditures, record keeping, reporting, auditing, district billing consistent with Board policies and acceptable accounting practices
  • Interface with contracted accounting and auditing services
  • Interface and manage banking relationships as needed
  • Oversee fidelity and implementation of all contractual services and relationships
  • Serve as liaison to the Board finance committee and treasurer of the board
  • Direct the collection of any data required for the preparation of reports to the chartering entity and other appropriate bodies


Facility Oversight

  • Manage facility maintenance and daily operations to ensure a safe and secure learning environment.
  • Manage contracted service providers to ensure quality maintenance of school facility, grounds, security systems and factory (HVAC, plumbing, etc.)
  • Oversee custodial staff schedules and work assignments.
  • Ensure adherence to Facilities Use Policies.


Food Service Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with School Food Authority state and federal requirements and regulations
  • Manage food service providers and support organizations to ensure efficient operations and accurate reporting and reimbursements (student meal counts/ billing)
  • Manage reporting requirements as directed by SCDOE and other state or federal organizations


Human Resources

  • Perform all Human Resource related activities including Payroll and On Boarding
  • With the assistance of the Charter School District oversee the administration of employee Benefits


Purchasing/Accounts Payable

  • Initiate and/or oversee all purchasing activities of the school
  • Create and track Purchase Orders as needed
  • Process vendor invoices through the contracted accounting service company

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in finance/accounting
  • Experience in public/private Education Administration (preferred)
  • Experience in the administration of Federal/State Grants related to Education (preferred)
  • 3-5 Years General Management experience
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability in data management and presentation
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of Federal, State, and School District entities
