RWTLCS fully services heavy-duty commercial tractors and trailers out of our Oklahoma City, Oklahoma terminal. The Director of Fleet Asset and Technology has tenured industry experience in managing the operational and financial performance of a multi-million-dollar operation. This person is a resourceful, proven subject-matter expert with a comprehensive background in identifying short and long-term needs and justifying targeted objectives to executive leadership.

The Director plays an essential role in building the capability of the field maintenance teams to consistently execute on business plans and budgets year after year to ensure all equipment is maintained for safe and efficient operations. Directly oversees the maintenance and best management operating procedures and processes pertaining to technology.

  • Assists in the creation, development and implementation of the company maintenance operations.
  • Deploys company-wide standard processes, tools, and technologies throughout the area.
  • Facilitate operating reviews and the annual budget processes.
  • Identifies, diagnoses and performs root-cause analysis of issues and performance improvements of underperforming locations assisting in the development and rollout plans to improve their maintenance performance.
  • Listens, evaluates, and collaborate with Operations and Procurement in setting priorities and goals in support of the maintenance process.
  • Supports and ensures safety initiatives and compliance.
  • Provides targeted expertise to lead on-site activities.
  • Develop and maintain short and long-term strategic management objectives and priorities; participates on cross-functional committees to ensure end-to-end collaboration to maintain policies, best practices, equipment specifications, and performance metric for maintenance.
  • This position could require travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Complex data management and P&L accountability, including budget creation, expense approval, and shop audit oversight
  • Manage parts purchasing, inventory and warranty coverage programs
  • Determine end of life criteria by tracking life cycles of assets and pieces of equipment
  • Vendor contract negotiation
  • Create and foster good working relationships with drivers, customers, third-party service providers, and other company partners
  • Utilize internal systems to monitor service failures and equipment downtime. Make arrangements to expedite priorities
  • Develop maintenance repair programs aimed at lowering BASIC/FMCSA/DOT scores
  • Assure equipment is permitted, licensed and registered according to Federal, State and local governments
  • Standardize hiring criteria for all areas of fleet technicians and work to reduce turnover
  • Work with shops to revise PM task lists, performance standards (KPIs) and SOPs that improve maintenance quality and reduce liability
  • See that continuing education on company safety and OSHA compliance is maintained

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in maintenance shop management of large-sized fleets containing tractors, trailers, reefer units, and support equipment. Experience includes work as an ASE-certified technician
  • Experience with warranty claim processing and documentation
  • Understanding of profit and loss statements
  • Extremely organized record-keeping practices
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities and competing deadlines
  • Excellent personal leadership skills and proven ability to build, develop, and motivate teams
  • Ability to manage, coach, counsel, discipline, and develop employees
  • General understanding of DOT, Federal, State and local regulations governing maintenance operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, bilingual a plus
  • Valid driver’s license

Physical demands include:

  • Maneuvering around, in, on, and under trucks/tight spaces to properly inspect and diagnose problems
  • Standing, bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, crawling, pushing, and pulling with a full range of body movements
  • Performing repetitive motions
  • Using hands to handle, control or feel
  • Climbing ladders, stairs and platforms
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds


This work environment includes exposure to high decibels of noise, temperature, weather variations, metal welding processes and chemicals which may include solvents, undercoating, paint, and caulking.
