Director of Grants (Non-Profit)
Job description
Position Summary:
The Director of Grants (Development Director) is key role of the organization and is responsible for developing and coordinating efforts to research, identify and maximize funding opportunities available from federal, state and private sources. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence as a grant researcher and grant writer and will also ensure compliance with all grant regulations, requirements, and reporting obligations. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to grow with the organization. The Development Director reports directly to the CEO.
Responsibilities:
- Keeps abreast of possible funding opportunities and evaluates opportunities in order to make recommendations to the CEO and other senior managers regarding the appropriateness and viability of the opportunity for Apex
- Writes grant proposals and submits applications in coordination with other staff members, including the CFO, that align with Apex goals and objectives
- Responsible for tracking due dates for grant reporting and writes grant reports as required
- Develops simple grant budgets when indicated and ensures funds are being expended in a timely manner
- Assists in the implementation and management of grants to ensure they are being implemented as written and/or agreed upon by the funding source
- Meets regularly with managers to discuss departmental objectives and priorities to explore the possibility of securing grant funds to meet those needs and to advise them of the process to establish eligibility in obtaining funds and other requirements
- Works with senior management to develop a plan for annual development activities and goals
- Cultivates relationships with funding partners and potential funding partners
- Engages in activities to retain current donors and obtain new donors, including social media and other outreach, email, mail, phone and in person contact
- Enters agency donations in donor software program and utilizes donor data to assess fundraising goals and trends
- Leads or assists in the planning and implementation of agency events, especially fundraising events
- Solicits sponsors for agency fundraising and other events
- Supervises the Outreach & Community Engagement Coordinator and others as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Must have extensive grant writing and management experience for health and/ or human services and non-profit organizations, including familiarity with State and Federal funding
- Must be proficient in the use of computer software, grant portals, and other technology
- Experience in donor cultivation and fundraising event management highly desirable
- Excellent skills as a persuasive writer

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
