Position Description

The IT Director is responsible for the management, strategy and execution of IT infrastructure for the organization. As Director of Information Technology, your set of responsibilities are to manage the day-to-day operations of the Information Technology Department which include the Enterprise Applications Team, Technical Services Team, Network Infrastructure Team, and the Data Management Team. Overseeing and maintaining all technical operations, managing employee performance, tracking technology to achieve business goals, eliminating security risks, increasing user satisfaction, and ensuring all technology systems and applications support the organization's goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees all IT operations including staff and technical infrastructure.
  • Plans, implements, and configures network hardware and supports all communications for all County Clerk occupied buildings and Annex locations.
  • Communicates regularly with executive management to report the status of IT operations.
  • Manages all technical operations. This includes enterprise systems such as the SAN,
  • SQL, Exchange, cooling, power, and fire suppression.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates IT projects in line with organizational objectives.
  • Directs the effective delivery of networks, development, and disaster recovery systems and processes.
  • Communicates with the technology team and other departments as collaboration requires identifying and eliminating security vulnerabilities with strategic solutions that increase data security and efficiencies.
  • Coordinates IT activities to ensure data availability and network services with as little downtime as necessary.
  • Interfaces with other County Clerk departments for maintenance of existing hardware or plan for the purchase of new hardware.
  • Prepares and implements budget (after it is approved) for all department needs.
  • Manages the purchase, planning, deployment, and support for all technical peripherals.
  • This includes laptops, desktops, servers, software, and network switching equipment.
  • Leads efforts to improve IT processes for all department needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned at the discretion of the County Clerk or Chief Deputy.

Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited educational institution
  • Three (3) years of related I.T. experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs occasionally unassisted.
  • Must be capable of working under stress.
  • Must be able to motivate and develop your technical team.
  • Must be able to think strategically and communicate effectively to IT staff.
  • Must be able to evaluate the functionality of all technical systems.
  • Must have the ability to work in a team in a fast-paced environment and prioritize activities.
  • Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to provide user training, support, advice and feedback, constantly evaluating and keeping up to date with new technologies.

Preferences

  • Associates degree, certificate, diploma or HNC or technical school.
  • Minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory or management role (preferred).
  • Capable of managing a team of staff including developers, systems analysts, database administrators, and system administrators.
  • The ability to design maintenance procedures and put them into operation.
  • Possess the leadership skills to manage employee performance, time management and organizational skills.

General Information

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
  • Regular Full-time
  • Monday - Friday | 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.
    • Occasional nights and weekends may be required
Salary:
  • Depends on Qualifications
  • Based on 26 pay periods

Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
