Director of Operations
Join our Powel Crosley, Jr. YMCA team, and focus on transforming lives and championing engagement efforts as you lead the day-to-day operations of the branch. The Director of Operations is primarily responsible to provide overall leadership to the branch, with a strong focus on membership growth & experience. You will participate in staff & volunteer development, financial development, community relations, and collaborations with various community agencies.
Salary range is $59,800 - $67,300/year. Benefits for FT employees include free family membership, health & dental insurance, program discounts, and optional retirement savings plan.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct, develop and manage day-to-day operations of assigned branch/programs in compliance with policies and procedures and abiding by safety and other regulations.
  • Review existing programs, enrollment and impact to ensure program participants are meeting goals. Develop strategies to address weaknesses and/or make recommendation for continuance or change.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to expand and grow program areas. Research and identify new trends. Incorporate creative thinking and discussion gathering input from key stakeholders. Work with program team to implement plans.
  • Develop, manage and monitor assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets. Exercise necessary controls to ensure operations are consistent with the approved budget.
  • Recruit and hire diverse staff and volunteer teams. Onboard, develop, and coach staff for development and maximum impact. Maintain regular, clear and concise communication and handle staff issues promptly. Ensure all staff model equity, inclusion, cultural competence and global awareness in all areas of work.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in exercise science, human services, recreation, social services, business or equivalent preferred, or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • Three or more years management experience, preferably in YMCA or other not-for-profit agency.
  • Ability to direct assigned operations including volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring budgets, marketing and public relations and program development/management.
  • Knowledge of, and prior experience in leading health, wellbeing & fitness operations preferred (including group exercise & personal training).
  • CPR, First Aid & other applicable certifications required upon/after hire.
