The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for all Operational and clinical activities of the Pharmacy Department through supervision of pharmacists and support staff to include but not limited to: Clinical initiatives that impact drug utilization, clinical education and staff development, management of appropriate drug utilization, drug spending analysis, and quality improvement activities.

Job Summary:

• Oversees all operations and coordinates workflow of the pharmacy department
• Ensures adherence to all Louisiana Board of Pharmacy, JC, CMS and FDA standards
• Oversees procurement, receiving, billing functions and inventory management
• Maintain operating expenses based on an annual operating budget
• Oversee development and implementation of department policies and procedures
• Prepare and conduct annual performance evaluations for pharmacy staff
• Ensure all regulatory requirements and inspections are completed as needed
• Track and trend medication incidents
• Ensures all policies and procedures are being followed by pharmacy staff
• Conducts regular meetings of pharmacy staff
• Participate in quality improvement, fiscal and productivity goals and objectives with Chief Financial Officer and other upper management at RRMC
• Interviews and hires all pharmacy employees
• Maintains effective communication with customers, co-workers and team members
• Performs other duties as assigned by Leadership of COO.
• Practices and adheres to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement"
• Monitors quality outcomes and recommends improvements in performance relative to the following safety issues:

o Mitigation of unsafe practices

o Ensuring adequate and competent Pharmacy staff service and Pharmacy leadership at all levels

o Timely and understandable communication of patient critical information

o Adverse events and medication errors reporting to improve patient safety.

o Adverse drug events and medication reconciliation

o Hospital-acquired infections related to multiple drug resistance or not adhering to USP 797/800standards.

o Anticoagulation therapy, patient education and coordinated care

• Bachelor’s in Pharmacy required; Pharm D or Doctorate in Pharmacy preferred
• Three years of experience in hospital pharmacy management
• Currently licensed in state of Louisiana
