Penick Village Continuing Care Life Plan Community is seeking a Director of Philanthropy to join our team. The Director of Philanthropy role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, creative and motivated individual who strives to provide service excellence.
Summary
The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and expansion of Penick Village's development program. The Director provides oversight of and supervises event staff, volunteers, and consultants. This position works closely with the CEO to integrate all elements of Penick's fundraising functions with our strategic plan; successfully meets annual revenue goals; and integrates the vision, core values and culture of Penick Village.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops strategies and plans in coordination with the CEO to fund the Penick's short and long-term programs and campaigns. Closely monitors the success of fundraising efforts to meet current approved budget, ensuring fundraising events meet revenue targets and strategic goals.
  • Implements diversified revenue strategy to include the following:
  • Works closely with CEO to develop partnerships with major individual, corporate, and foundation donor prospects.
  • Implements systematic efforts to identify, solicit, steward, maintain and upgrade annual giving donors.
  • Manages the grants program, including work related to grant writing and reports, proposal development and submission, relationship building, and the timely submission of grant proposals to private and public foundations, grant makers, and corporations.
  • Oversees direct mail campaigns, seasonal donor acquisition, capital campaigns, planned giving opportunities and performs periodic reviews and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversees, manages, and/or plans special events
  • Collaborates with CEO to develop strategies for all donor related events.
  • Adheres to appropriate and prompt standards for an effective donor recognition program to include written thank you letters, proper receipts, personal phone calls, and other appreciation.
  • Oversees development related communication including newsletter articles, website, social media and media advertising
  • Keeps current on fundraising best practices and trends.
  • Represents the Penick Village and participates in special events as necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute a comprehensive, strategic, robust, and effective fundraising strategy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as public speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive relationship builder for long-term benefit.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytic and strategic thinking.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and in a flexible environment.
  • Willingness to take initiative and be a self-starter.
  • Resourceful problem solver experienced in defining problems, weighing information, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending effective solutions.
  • Skilled in budgeting, planning, managing development efforts and/or fundraising/friend-raising events.
  • Valid driver's license; travel required in Moore County.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends as needed.
  • Typical physical demands of administrative job with capability to lift 20-25 pounds.
