Purpose

The Masters of Science Programs Office (MSPO) is responsible for the daily management of the one-year specialized Masters degrees within the McCombs School of Business. The Director of Student Experience will partner with the MSPO Associate Dean in setting and implementing strategic goals related to MSPO Student Experience as well as regularly collaborating with program directors to align daily operations with short and long-term strategy and support an organizational culture that is innovative, fast-paced, and agile.

Strategic Initiatives:
Identify partnerships within McCombs and across the University related to delivering excellence in the student experience

Monitor national trends on best practices for student experience

Responsibilities

Academic and Experiential Learning:
Oversee execution of the co-curricular experiences for MSPO students. This includes working collaboratively with each of the MS Academic Program Directors, the MSPO Student Experience Team, Program Advisory Councils, the Career Management team and other campus offices to develop workshops and experiences relevant to student success priorities including health and wellness, diversity & inclusion, and career education and exploration

Communicate with graduate school as needed to address academic needs

Work collaboratively with each of the MS Program Directors to understand program goals and support students’ academic experience

Coordinate with the Graduate School and Graduate Program Coordinators on academic probation, monitoring academic success, and identifying at-risk students

Student and Alumni Engagement:
Collaborate with Senior Events Coordinator, Program Directors, Career Management team, and the Marketing team to plan program-wide MSPO events, including (but not limited to) orientation, yield events, program advisory council meetings, and graduation

Develop and execute a communication strategy for all students

Develop and oversee execution of strategy for engaging alumni

Develop and oversee execution for student engagement and success

Supervision:
Manage team of senior academic program coordinators who work closely with students enrolled in each of the MS Programs

Oversee accurate data keeping for each MS program; including but not limited to collection and submission of data for accreditation and rankings purposes

Ensure alignment across student experience across programs; identify and implement best practices across programs

Ensure alignment in policies and procedures across programs

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Understanding of academic and cultural diversity with a commitment to creating an environment in which all students can succeed.

Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills. Strong technical skills.

Excellent diplomacy skills to handle complex situations with multiple stakeholders.

Strong interpersonal and team skills.

Master's degree and five years of experience coordinating programs in an educational or corporate environment.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters of Business Administration, Master in Educational Administration or related field.

Working knowledge of graduate/MBA programs. Experience managing user-facing technology applications.

Experience working in an environment making strategic decisions.

Experience managing and supervising a team.

Event planning experience.

Experience working with a diverse group of peers, faculty, administrative personnel, and graduate students.

Salary Range

$80,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Working in a standard office.

Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

Work schedule is generally 8am – 5pm with nights and weekend work when needed.

Occasional event set-up and break down management which can involve some lifting.

This is an Austin, TX-based position and is eligible for hybrid work.

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
