Job Description:

Director of SUCCESS Fund Initiatives

Non-Unit Professional position,37.5 hours/week

Campus Location: Danvers/Lynn

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Develop, collaborate, lead and formally assess programs and services related to closing the achievement gap through the SUCCESS Fund. By leading the implementation of wrap-around support services and demonstrating authentic commitment to student success, the Director will coordinate engagement and retention efforts with and for marginalized student populations, including but not limited to Black and Latino/a students, first-generation and low-income (FGLI), part-time and/or LGBTQ+ students. Responsibilities include developing, implementing and assessing access and academic achievement strategies and initiatives focused on decreasing educational gaps for our marginalized students. This position also provides support to students through the planning and implementation of student-centered programming through an equity lens.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, implement and formally assess programs and services of the SUCCESS Fund that are related to decreasing gaps in educational access and attainment of underrepresented and/or historically marginalized groups. This will include but not be limited to: management and oversight of the SUCCESS Fund, the implementation and management of wrap-around support services, co-curricular programming with a focus on equity and social justice.
  • Chair the SUCCESS Fund Advisory Team.
  • Represent NSCC at all statewide meetings for the SUCCESS Fund.
  • Manage over $1 million-dollar budget within the scope of the SUCCESS Fund agreement.
  • Responsible for data collection and data entry; maintaining documentation relevant to access and achievement efforts, including preparation of written reports in relation to the SUCCESS Fund; interacting with Information Technology and Institutional Research on the development and request of specialized reports.
  • Create marketing, promotional materials, and digital assets. Actively assess and keep up to date relevant SUCCESS Fund web pages.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across campus to create student programming that provides opportunities for education, mentorship, growth, and engagement.
  • Coordinate programs and initiatives that enhance the student experience and increase retention rates for historically marginalized student populations.
  • Pilot, monitor, and grow the "NSCC Scholars" program designed specifically for new North Shore students who have the opportunity to receive scholarship funds when they participate in support services (i.e., personalized advisement) offered by NSCC.
  • Coordinate and participate in the Coordinated Care reports via electronic (e-mail) and telecounseling campaigns to follow-up with current SUCCESS students.
  • Represent the SUCCESS Fund in on campus events to promote the program.
  • Consistently researches promising practices for decreasing educational access and attainment gaps and identifies ways to utilize strategies to bolster and/or create initiatives.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Diversity & Equity Officer, develop cross-campus partnerships to facilitate dialogue around issues of student equity and access.
  • Interact with various community-based organizations/individuals, attends meetings; serves on and/or chairs committees; attends college-related events; represents the college and the assigned department/program at outside events/meetings.
  • Apply knowledge of NSCC policies, procedures, and programs to individual situations to assist students, parents, faculty, staff, and all community constituencies.
  • Perform other related duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or required.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration, Marketing, Education Administration, or other field related to area of assignment; with five (5) years related experience involving area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Community College experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of student recruitment, admissions and computer-based management.
  • Awareness of local and national trends in higher education around equity, access, and diversity.
  • Knowledge of theory and best practices regarding social justice initiatives and implementation.
  • Familiarity with student development and leadership programs.
  • Project management and facilitation skills, including ability to work within deadlines and to provide program reporting and assessment.
  • Advanced knowledge of technology as it relates to e-recruitment including Microsoft products particularly Excel and Access; Banner software, EAB Navigate and Hobsons Radius experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and interpersonal connections with culturally diverse populations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Very strong presentation skills. Outstanding public relations and customer service skills.
  • Must have the ability to travel and work evenings and weekends for such events as Orientations, Open Houses, community engagements, graduation, etc.). A valid MA driver's license is required.
  • Must be positive, energetic, team-orientated, capable of motivating self, and require limited supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast- paced, rapidly growing, intense, and multifunctional office environment.
  • Demonstrated success building relationships with school guidance counselors, teachers, parents, community agency representatives, four-year state institutions, and multi-ethnic populations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds, including adult learners. (Please address this qualification in your application materials.)

SALARY RANGE: Anticipated salary range $85,000.00-$90,000.00 commensurate with education and experience.
