DSHS ESH Nursing Assistant / Mental Health Technician 1


Eastern State Hospital is expanding! Eastern State Hospital is seeking committed Mental Health Technicians with a desire to learn the healthcare field supporting our Registered Nurses.

We currently have opportunities for on-call, day, evening, and night employment. Evening shift is 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. and Nightshift is 10:30 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. which include a $1.00/hr shift differential in addition to base pay.

Some of what you will do

  • Provide nursing care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse
  • Following hospital, state, and federal regulatory standards, policies, and procedures deliver care per individual treatment plan
  • Provide for patient safety and comfort through attention to basic needs and activities
  • Recognize situations to safely deescalate patients utilizing assistance from the support team
  • Move and transfer patients, escort and transport patients
  • Communicate information to RNs regarding changes in condition and clinical information

Who should apply

  • Professionals who have a high school diploma or GED and WA State licensed as a nursing assistant (NAR) or nurse assistant certified (NAC)
  • Ability to provide accurate and clear communication in a calm, non-threatening manner
  • Proficiency in the operation of computers, copy machines, metal detectors, and patient lifting equipment
  • Flexibility to adjust scheduled hours of work to meet the hospital's workload demands
