Community Partnership Inc. (CP) is the Community Action Agency for Butler County, PA.
We currently run programming in Butler County and are working to expand our reach to
Lawrence and Beaver County. Our three focus areas are Economic Development, Food
Insecurity, and Agriculture related issues that people in poverty face in their daily lives.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Ag Career Educator – Full-Time, Seasonal Position, 40 hrs. per week. 8:30am–4:30pm M-
F. Camp hours are M-Th 9:30-3:30. Fridays are reserved for planning, record-keeping, and preparation. Duration: June 12-August 4, 2023. Camp Duration June 26-July 28, 2023. All staff have OFF Tuesday, July 4.

Purpose:

Serves as lead coordinator for group of students aged 14-16 during agricultural-based summer career exploration program, facilitating program activities, safely managing groups of students in an agricultural setting, and demonstrating leadership to program participants. Supports the

Community Partnership mission, promotes agricultural careers and acts as an advocate for

Community Partnership.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Guide a group of 6—8 students safely around the worksite, knowing the location of all your students during program hours;
• Lead small and large group activities, supervising student’s participation in activities, and being an active part of all activities (i.e., animal interactions, lunchtime games, career field trips, produce harvesting);
• Interact appropriately with and model professional behavior for students and staff in a variety of situations using positive behavior-management techniques, including enthusiasm, a positive attitude, patience, sensitivity, a sense of humor, and self-control;
• Work with other CP staff to complete morning set-up and afternoon clean-up of program areas; coordinate with CP Garden coordinator on daily production and harvest activities;
• Attend all required, scheduled staff meetings
• Plan and execute at least five themed program weeks, in collaboration with CP leadership.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age (required)

Previous experience working with children or education, preferably in a day camp setting

Preferred applicants will have completed at least two years of college

An ability to plan programs, conduct activities, and accept feedback

An ability to work as a member of a team and work independently, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, creativity, open-mindedness, and flexibility

Demonstrated interest or specific skills in environmental education, agriculture, sustainability, gardening, cooking, arts, and crafts.

Current certifications in standard first aid and community CPR are a plus

Details: This is a Full-Time, Seasonal Position, 40 hrs. per week. 8:30am–4:30pm M-F.
