Job Summary
The role of the Clinical Nurse Educator is that of a clinician, educator, Evidence Based Practice (EBP) supporter/researcher, consultant, role model/change agent and leader. Focus is on improving patient care through the incorporation of known standards, performance improvement methodologies and research findings.
Key Responsibilities
- Education
- Promote professional development of all nursing and ancillary personnel
- Assists with orientation of new employees
- Functions as an expert educator and consultant
- Assesses, plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates educational programs designed to meet identified learning needs
- Provides educational interventions that enhance growth and all staff to provide high quality care to all patients
- Leads nursing quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with the director
- Manages the clinical competency assessment processes
- Continuously identifies and implements evidence-based nursing practice and research
- Assists with patient care activities to maintain clinical competence
- Serves as a role model for nursing personnel and as a patient advocate
- Serves as a change agent and leader
- Assess, plan, and evaluate the nursing process using a high level of expertise
- Work actively with director to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical care
- Operations
- Assists with daily operations and through put, including assuming charge nurse responsibilities and performing hands on clinical care as needed
- Employs appropriate resources to decrease patient waits and delays
- Focus staff on efficient and effective problem-solving approaches
- Shows enthusiasm for and leads new approaches.
- Sets goals that are attainable, measurable, and realistic and are congruent with the Hospital’s strategic plan, mission statements and service values
- Plays an active role in the interdisciplinary process in actualizing positive patient care outcomes
- Identifies problems, gathers information, selects course of action, makes timely decisions, and notifies all parties involved
- Honors team values and agreements
- Fosters pride collaboration and commitment among members of Saint Anne’s Hospital and the community that it serves
- Initiates change by generating and responding to ideas and solutions
- Knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures
- Knowledgeable of performance improvement methodologies
- Requires effective use of problem solving, negotiating, conflict management, team leading, and team building skills
- Must possess expert organizational skills
Minimum Education Requirements: MSN with concentration in education from an accredited school of nursing strongly preferred.
Minimum Work Experience: At least 5 years of current experience working in Education
Equipment/Software/Certification: Current MA RN license required. BLS required Microsoft Applications, Mosiaq, Meditech

Schedule: Part Time Benefit Eligible, Split Shift Evening/Night, 7:00pm-5:30am
