Job description
Job Summary: Performs EEG test according to department procedures on children, adults & on patients with suspected electrocerebral silence ensuring minimal artifacts and producing an accurate, readable tracing. Includes explaining EEG procedures, gathering patient information & identifying contra-indications for using photic stimulation or hyperventilation. Observes patient during testing for signs of distress and need for immediate medical evaluation. Transfers tracings to network for interpreting neurologist and archives records according to department procedures. Also responsible for administrative and clerical duties, such as billing and maintaining patient files. Also responsible for cleaning the EEG equipment and maintaining supplies.
Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent; must be trained and experienced as an EEG technician or have a degree or certificate in electroneurodiagnostic technology. In lieu of EEG experience or education, will consider applicants with at least six months of direct patient care experience.
