Job Description & Responsibilities

To support our growth, CoolSys Energy Design is in search of an Electrical Designer to join our San Antonio, Texas team! The qualified candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an MEP engineering consulting firm setting. Experience will encompass designing and drafting electrical systems including lighting, power, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems for retail, commercial, industrial, educational, and/or multi-family residential customers. Scope of Position

In coordination with other designers performs design using computer aided design software (Revit and AutoCAD) to create engineering drawings. We work with a variety of high-quality nationwide retailers, as well as commercial, industrial, and multi-family residential buildings, so attention to detail and quality of work is a must!

In this role, the Designer will

  • Prepare and create detailed designs in coordination with other engineers and designers.
  • Create and maintain Revit and AutoCAD drawing packages.
  • Licensing as a Professional Engineer, or ability to obtain license, preferred but not necessary.
  • Maintain responsible control over design activities pertaining to the project, including engineering, quality control, and code compliance.
  • Ensure work is executed accurately and in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure preparation of the design’s calculations and engineering drawings is constructible and complies with all code and customer requirements.
  • Prepare engineering documents that meet customer quality requirements and company standards.
  • Lead electrical design efforts on projects, and perform project management of projects as required, commensurate with training, proficiency, and experience.
  • Coordinate with local building officials regarding code compliance.
  • Assist on site visits and reporting, as required.
  • Incorporate selection, layout, sizing, and applicable system and equipment requirements into design documents.
  • Provide support for other department activities as required including plotting drawings, producing transmittals and coordinating shipment of deliverables.
  • Assignments are commensurate with training, proficiency and experience.

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Other engineering disciplines, associates degrees, and training are considered based on experience and skill-set.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (Electrical) in Texas, or ability to become licensed.
  • Revit and AutoCAD design experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, as well as demonstrated high quality technical writing skills and proficiency in English.
  • Team player with sound business ethics and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform project management duties on assigned projects, in addition to leading design efforts in electrical.
  • Ability to achieve project goals and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors, in order to develop a full understanding of building electrical systems and their operation.

This position will require minimal travel to project sites. Our ideal candidate will reside local to the Bexar County, Texas area.
