What You Will Do:

As a member of the engineering team, the Electrical Engineer (EE) will be responsible for the design of new systems from the beginning stages through production and postproduction. This will include design timelines, bill of materials, schematic creation, and quality assessment. The designer is expected to work independently with directional guidance from the Director of Engineering.

  • Operate in the SolidWorks PDM environment
  • Complete safety and other calculations related to component selection
  • Communicate with sales team and directly with the customer to ensure the system meets the design intent from the customer
  • Record and report design costs
  • Sourcing for competitively priced, high-quality components as needed
  • Develop design specifications and when needed, test protocols
  • Designs electrical schematics per customer quotes
  • Generates accurate bill of materials
  • Provides technical support and serves as a point of contact for customer support when needed
  • Writes procedures, reports, and other technical documents as needed
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

What You Need to Have:

  • A reputation for taking initiative, setting goals, and getting things done
  • The ability to efficiently manage several projects at one time
  • Strong CAD proficiency with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical is a plus)
  • Ability to design electrical power systems for motors and motor control systems
  • Ability to efficiently utilize Microsoft outlook, excel, and word applications
  • Ability to analyze and solve technical problems quickly and effectively utilizing schematics, technical documentation, and diagnostic tools
  • Ability to utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Superb creativity, analytical, organizational, and team building skills
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner in written and oral form
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and a team player
  • Ethical conduct

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of NEC, UL508A, and NFPA 70 as they apply to industrial control panels, motors and motor control systems
  • Knowledge of instrumentation for flow, temperature, pressure, and actuators
  • Familiarity with short circuit current ratings (SCCR)
  • Hands-on experience with measurement of electrical power, wiring of electrical panels and circuitry, and effective troubleshooting methods and techniques related to control panels and field wired devices

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to climb up and down ladders and stairs, stand or sit for prolonged periods
  • Must be able to lift to 75 pounds at time
