Summary:
You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to lead, develop, and integrate hardware systems in this role. We are looking for someone with extensive experience working with primary and secondary batteries, specifically for low-power applications in the load ranges of nanoamps to hundreds of milliamps.
Emphasis will be on fast iterations and resourceful solutions. The position requires the ability for independent detailed design work and a high-level system understanding of hardware and product interoperability across the family. Communication and leadership skills are highly appreciated.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Dynamic problem-solving and willingness to explore unconventional approaches when needed, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to drive projects to success, is ideal
- Prototyping proof of concepts
- Lead component selection for designs as needed for specific applications
- Ownership of electrical designs and hardware product features
- Build documentation for component selection, component supply and cost, design options, schematics, layout, and production packages with the help of the PCB design engineers
- Maintain documentation for approved alternates, and other electrical and hardware details
- Build vs. buy decision-making component scoping and component substitution advice
- Custom module development where required
- Bring up and debug
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience and a proven track record in hardware development
- Expertise in wide temperature range applications and solutions
- Expertise in selection and application specification definitions
- Produce Production and IQC test plans for high-volume production
- Expertise in hardware integration, including the following: SOC, microcontrollers, microprocessors (ARM), embedded peripheral interfaces (USB, I2C, SPI, UART, embedded flash, high-speed serial)
- High-speed signaling and hardware protocols for memory and camera BUS
- Understanding of power supply architecture
- Schematics design
- Component selection and battery charging;
- Low power system design and integration
- Sensor selection and integration
- Form factor-based architecture proposal, system buildup, component selection, and integration
- Robust working knowledge of wireless products, high-speed signals, and power Integrity
- Strong working knowledge of best practices for PCB/flex layout and construction
- Knowledge of PCB materials, PCB design process, PCB assembly/manufacturing process
- Experience with bring-up and debugging of mixed-signal designs
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Skills for hardware debugging through elimination methods
- Hands-on experience with test equipment and lab resources, including oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, data loggers, multimeters, and optical and thermal analysis tools
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (Master preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on industry experience in building prototypes and successfully releasing consumer electronics products

The salary range for this role is $112,065 to $250,000, plus bonuses and Pre-IPO equity. It is uncommon for anyone to be hired at or near the top range for their role, and final compensation is based on the facts and circumstances of the case. The compensation range is broad because it reflects many factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience, and training directly relevant to the role, business and company needs, cultural fit, level, and location.
