The Foreign Weapon Systems Department's goals include the characterization and analysis of threat weapons systems including foreign missiles and radars. This group performs hands-on laboratory work that concentrates on electrical, sensor, optical, RF, and firmware aspects of the systems, but will engage any part of the system that advances our goals. Our team also develops Hardware-in-the-Loop simulations using the threat hardware, countermeasure concepts, and specialized threat operating equipment.

The Electronics Technician will characterize, operate, and repair radars, RF missiles, and other electronics as well as produce specialized test equipment associated with these weapons. This work includes assembly, setup, calibration, testing and trouble-shooting of circuits, components, mechanical assemblies or products. The position will require hands-on work, sometimes involving small and delicate components.

This position involves hand soldering of surface mount and through-hole components. Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in work performance is required. Candidates should have experience with board level circuit assembly, cable harnesses, electromechanical assemblies, and use of basic electrical test equipment. Some travel for field test events will be required.

Basic Qualifications

  • This position will require at least a high school diploma and 3 years’ experience in electrical/electronics assembly or test.
  • Candidate will have to demonstrate experience in designing and building hardware to meet challenging technical requirements.
  • Basic experience reading schematic drawings and other manufacturing documentation will be required.
  • Candidates must also have experience in troubleshooting of complex devices or systems using standard test equipment.
  • Candidate must have achieved J-STD-001 soldering certification within the last 5 years and must have experience soldering under a microscope.
  • Candidate will be required to have the computer skills associated with these design and assembly tasks, including proficiency in using corporate manufacturing data systems, creating documents and spreadsheets for manufacturing information such as work instructions, parts lists, inventory reports, etc.

Other Qualifications

Experience working with foreign or domestic missile or radar hardware is a plus.

Preference will be given to candidates with an Associates Degree or higher in a technical field.

Security Requirements

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
