Elementary Music Teacher with a focus on implementing and maintaining a strong music and choir program for grades K-5. Possible High School Band Assistant Directorship as the schedule and program is developed.
The focus for this teacher will be to facilitate the fine arts curriculum for all grade levels as assigned by creating a love for music and music appreciation through theory, applications, and classroom interrogatories. Lower Elementary students (K-2nd grade) will learn the basics of music and choir, group organizational skills, class presentations, and performance in front of their peers, families, and various stakeholders. Learners in grades 3-5 will focus on additional theory applications while learning how to play basic instruments such as recorders and ukuleles. The goal for this part of the music program is to strengthen the love and understanding of self-expression through musical performance, being part of a group of like-minded peers, and the appreciation of the impact that music and band have on the overall learning experience in and out of the classroom setting.
The overall goal of the Elementary Music Teacher at GES is to help support the entire academic program at GISD. This teacher will be tasked with helping to build a foundation for a successful band and musical performance program for Ganado ISD.
As an Assistant Band Director, this position will support the secondary band program as assigned by the GISD Band Director. Duties
may
include before and after school assignments; i.e. Friday night band performances during football games, before and after school band practices, and attendance at various band competitions and performances. As daily schedules vary from campus to campus within the district, Assistant Band Director involvement
in this position
may be limited depending on the required classroom instructional time and other duties as assigned by campus and district administrators.
