Job description
Under general supervision performs work of moderate difficulty coordinating public programs; performs related work as assigned.

Implements and coordinates programs that provide services to the public- Assures program contract or regulatory compliance
- Provides support and advocacy to program participants
- Prepares and maintains records and reports
- Coordinates and collaborates with community-based organizations, public agencies, coalitions, schools, and other appropriate facilities to implement programs
- May serve as Planning Section Chief/Deputy Chief during emergency operations center (EOC) activations. Manages the EOC’s planning processes and documentation, including development of Incident Support Plans.
- Reviews County, State and National priorities and how they may apply to emergency management and Coconino County priorities
- Participates in public education and public relations efforts
- Prepares and disseminates informational program materials
- May participate in the recruitment of volunteers, practicum students and interns
- May coach and train student employees, interns and/or volunteers
- Performs related work as assigned
Associate degree in public/business administration, or a related field within subject area, and two years of administrative experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE will possess a keen interest in the emergency management profession, be comfortable working independently on assignments with varying degrees of complexity, have strong written and verbal communication skills, be comfortable speaking in public, and highly proficient with technology, including demonstrable knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
PREFERENCES:
Associate degree in Emergency Management; or higher.
FEMA certification in IS 100, 200, 700, and 800. ICS 300, 400, and FEMA Professional Development Series certification is highly desirable.
Experience working in an Incident Management Team or Emergency Operations Center as a Planning Section Chief, Deputy Planning Section Chief, or other member of the Planning Section.
This position is non-exempt from overtime.
This position is safety sensitive.

- Work with culturally diversified groups
- Follow written and verbal instructions
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
