Job Title: Employee Safety Coordinator

General Description:

Employee Safety Coordinators are responsible for assisting the Employee Safety Manager in implementing the Chickasaw Nation’s safety and health programs to ensure a safe, healthy, risk-free and accident free work environment at all tribal offices, medical facilities and Commerce facilities. In addition Safety Coordinator is responsible to maintain compliance with all tribal safety policies, processes, rules and programs.

Supervision Received: Work is performed under the supervision of the Employee Safety Manager

Supervision Exercised: None

Supervision Essential Job Functions:

  • * Assist with executing our safety strategy and zero accident culture
  • * Conduct hazard assessments, safety inspections and compliance audits to measure compliance and effectiveness.
  • * Conduct and direct the entire process of accident investigation/analysis.
  • * Analyze trends through root cause analysis to identify causation and risk factors to identify corrective or preventative action measures.
  • * Performs ergonomic assessments and recommends safety specifications and protective devices for equipment and fixed structures.
  • * Works closely with the Safety Program Coordinator in the identification of incident trends and the development of safety policies, processes and programs.
  • * Assists with the identification of trends in occupational injuries and makes recommendations to reduce the frequency and/or severity of occupational claims.
  • * Maintains effective, cooperative working relationships with people both internally and externally.
  • * Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Preferred - * Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills. Preferred - * Must have excellent organizational skills and outstanding attention to detail. Preferred - * Knowledge of modern office procedures and technologies. Preferred - * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Tribal officials, employees and the public.

Education:

Bachelors Preferred - Preferred

Education Note:

Training And Experience:

Preferred Training (6 months - 3 years) - * One to three years related occupational safety experience preferred

Licenses, Certifications, Other:

Preferred - * ASP, ARM designation a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Preferred - Must be able to sit long hours at a desk.
