JOB FUNCTION:

Plan, direct and lead Engineering Personnel to provide the necessary facilities to permit effective new product development, cost reductions, documentation and mature product support.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

[1] Management of engineering resources to drive product strategy, R&D, manufacturing support and customer service.

[2] Develop, track and support improvement in company P&L by driving activities in productivity, cycle time, manufacturing cost and process yield.

[3] Understand and implement continuous improvement activities such as Lean Production and Six Sigma.

[4] Develop and implement expense and capital plans to support annual sales plan.

[5] Ensure compliance of operation with internal policies and procedures. Drive timely resolution of non-conformances and product complaints and ensure systemic improvement of procedures, equipment and processes.

[6] In depth knowledge and skill of investment casting process.

[7] Work with corporate R&D to develop new technology to reduce cost and improve process yields.

[8] Assure all new or modified products are designed to be conducive to the manufacturing process and capability of the plant.

[9] Ability to work with Sales in designing product that meets customer target cost.

[10] Effective project management skills with the ability to succeed in a matrix environment with interaction across the company.

[11] Develop necessary information for reports to division management on such things as investment and new technology trends.

[12] Strong organizational skills, specifically the ability to handle multiple tasks and functions; a high degree of detail and accuracy.

[13] Excellent interpersonal skills, including the confidence, integrity and professionalism to forge strong relationships with customers.

[14] Comfort in a lean, informal, metric driven environment which requires a strong work ethic, team orientation and hands-on management style.

[15] Ability to develop and perform presentations to customers.

[16] Assure all engineering proposals and activities are in compliance with customer and/or regulatory requirements.

[17] Provide leadership to differentiate PCC from competitors.

EDUCATION:

BS in Engineering is required; MS or MBA preferred. Blackbelt certification desired.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of ten years experience in the casting industry. Ability and commitment level to achieve a general management position.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Responsible for technical and management performance of the Engineering Department.

Extensive contact with others ranging from shop personnel to division/headquarters management.
