In Controls & Avionics Solutions we develop the next generation of avionics - whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or power management.

BAE Systems is seeking a New Business Proposal Lead to join our team in Endicott, NY and support both the CAS and PPS business areas. This position reports into the Controls Engineering organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing bid and proposal activities and supporting the capture manager with proposal preparation as required. They will focus on consistent application of the bid process, across all product and Business Areas by:

• Generating an execution strategy/timelines for the proposal, focusing on ensuring full coordination of the proposal efforts in alignment with BAE Systems processes and customer needs.
• Working with the technical solution team and product lead to derive the optimal solution with respect to customer needs and price to win (both recurring and non-recurring).
• Focusing on technology maturity and availability for any bid, detailing any gaps.
• Managing the generation of the technical proposal supporting the bid.
• Leading/coordination the technical solution and costing activities through the relevant LCM processes.
• Working with other BAE locations including the UK to promote consistency and lessons learned.
• Promoting and embedding best practices.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field and 5 years' work experience in a related field.
• Candidate must have 4 or more years experience in engineering development / execution coupled with product experience in one or more of the following: Flight Control, Engine Controls, Displays, Mission Computing, or Power and Energy Management.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with business leaders, technical leaders, peers, subordinates, and customers.
• The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to lead technical aspects of new business development, plan, lead, and execute a diverse range of technical activities with minimal direction.
• Demonstrated ability to work in an integrated product team environment.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• MS in engineering discipline and 8+ years' experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical aspects of new business development.
• Demonstrated experience leading proposals, constructing engineering costs as a bidder, writing a Memorandum of Cost (MC) and utilizing a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to define the cost structure.
• Demonstrated ability to drive technical decisions across multiple platforms / product lines and possess strong technical writing and presentation skills.
