Job description

Liaison with the quality assurance department.

Participate as the Engineering component of the Material Review Board (MRB) during daily reviews and as the chief person responsible for monitoring MRB data and highlighting trends that need engineering attention or pass-on to the product engineering group. Also monitor daily MRB issues and trouble shoot as needed.

Invent/design/process engineer new inspection methods or inspection procedures as needed for new product. May involve investigating new equipment for purchase, statistical analysis of data and other methods to define a reliable process.

Serve as a liaison between the customer, QA and our department during root cause/corrective action reports, or working in support of someone working on a RCCA.

Drive improvements to various departments such as Assembly, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and others by walking the process on a regular basis, talking to operators, listening for problems and going after solutions. May involve fixture design or process design. I need someone who can handle both as needed.

Work with the Product Engineering Group on HVM enabling FMEA studies for new product. Trouble shoot HVM quality problems on existing product.

Jump in when processes are failing and help keep things operating until a solution can be found. Sometimes this may require you to operate processes in assembly, MFG, Quality Assurance or other areas for a short period of time until the operation can be transferred back over to the proper owner. Train the new personnel and write up any required process documentation to make sure the process is working on its own. This may include audits to ensure the process stays intact over time.

Write up technical documentation on a variety of topics. FMEA, Process flows, work instructions, part drawings, presentations.

Be able to speak clearly on technical subjects in front of customers and conduct yourself appropriately in a professional environment. Not all meetings are always on nice subjects, so some ability to endure pressure or tense meetings with grace is required. Important to develop relationships, protect IP, and basically be someone who the customer can say "wow, this person gets stuff done and can be depended upon".

Work as needed to get the job done. Schedule isn't always predictable and you may need to adjust on a moment's notice if something comes up. This isn't the rule on a daily basis, but it happens and the response must be solid to the need of the job.

Use Solidworks CAD and PDM to create models, drawings and BOM's. This will not be a main responsibility of the job, but it will come up from time to time and the capability is needed to quickly solve some kinds of problems.

Interact with Essai's Enterprise Resource Planning software to investigate product problems that involve understanding factors such as "in MFG", "sold and in the field”, or "on order". This is needed to understand impact and containment for various issues such as during RCCA investigations.

Useful if you have a previous background in the semiconductor industry so it's easier for you to relate to various common terms. This isn't a show stopper, but it will make communication and understanding of technical issues easier.

Quickly and accurately perform Engineering Change Orders (ECO's) as part of your efforts to fix problems. This isn't a core responsibility, but a tool you will use to resolve issues that come up during various parts of the responsibilities listed here.

Interact with other areas/responsibilities of the Engineering Support Group as directed by your manager, train others, and generally be a support pillar for the department that we can depend upon to get stuff done.
