Job description
Appointments are made on a term-by-term basis. Adjunct faculty are required to successfully complete an online Canvas LMS orientation course before being scheduled, as well as other training if required by the department. This is an on-site blended/hybrid course, students attend class in person 60% of the time and complete the remaining 40% online through Park’s Canvas Learning Management System.

Minimum Qualifications
M.A., M.F.A., or Ph.D in English, or in one of the primary subfields in English; Literature, Rhetoric/Composition, Professional and Technical Writing, and Creative Writing. Must possess significant graduate coursework in Literature or Creative Writing. Must provide evidence of at least two semesters of experience teaching English at a regionally accredited college or university. AND provide evidence of having completed EITHER (1) at least one graduate-level course in composition, rhetoric, or writing pedagogy OR (2) significant professional development in writing pedagogy such as conference attendance, participation in workshops or seminars on writing pedagogy, etc.
This is a Writing Intensive course, instructor approval is contingent on both department review and successful completion of a 4-week online workshop. The certification is conducted through Canvas with a live instructor that focuses on pedagogical techniques for teaching writing and using writing to teach content that are supported by research in writing across the curriculum/writing in the disciplines.
EN232 Introduction to Poetry Course Description
An introduction to concepts, techniques, and vocabulary involved in the literary analysis of poetry. The course involves a study of poetic works written in English and in translation.
EN234 Introduction to Fiction Course Description
Close reading of selected works of English and American prose fiction, emphasizing the historical development of the novel and short story.
