Job description
This is skilled work in the operation of heavy-duty motor vehicle, construction, and farm type equipment of moderate operational complexity used in construction and maintenance activities with an emphasis on athletic field maintenance. An employee in this class may have intermittent responsibility for leading a small crew of workers in athletic field maintenance, repair, and construction work.

$17.91 - $26.03 Hourly

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Possess and continue to maintain a valid Driver License.
  • Obtain a State of Florida Class “B” Commercial Driver License within 12 months of appointment to the position.
  • Have experience using heavy equipment, including construction and farm equipment.
  • Be able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Be able to work long hours outdoors, occasionally under adverse weather conditions.
  • Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Have six months experience in the operation of box blade, various large and pull behind mowers, front end loader, and backhoe.
  • Have knowledge of athletic field maintenance.
  • Have some supervisory experience.
