Reports to VP of Preconstruction

The Senior Estimator is charged with quickly and accurately preparing cost estimates independently for construction projects to aid management in bidding on, or determining price of, a construction project utilizing historical company data and current market pricing. This position may specialize according to a particular service performed or type of project.

Safety

• Complete trainings as directed by Safety Director

Building Relationships

• Build an open dialogue with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to accurately communicate changes and adjustments to cost estimates
• Be an active participant in interviews to secure work and bid presentations to clients

Focus on End Goals

• Independently solicit, analyze, and organize bids from subcontractors and suppliers, accurately transferring that information into a proposal package
• Independently complete quantity take-off
• Independently compile accurate estimates or proposals to submit for management use in planning, organizing, and scheduling work
• Attend pre-bid meetings and/or site visits
• Analyze blueprints and other documentation to accurately prepare time, cost, and materials estimates
• Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services; tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops
• Become a trusted resource for all facets of estimating needs

Travel Expectations

• Occasional overnight travel expected by plane or car

Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently in an office environment, and 30 to 50 pounds of force occasionally when working in field environment
• Frequent activities of office environment include sitting, standing, walking, typing and other computer work, using telephone and other standard office equipment
• Occasional activities of office environment include balancing, bending/stooping, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion
