Job description
The Biology and Chemistry/Physical Sciences Department Lab Supervisor will provide compliance with laboratory section health and safety regulations for each Department and for the University.
Position Duties
- Maintain all laboratory stations are adequately prepared.
- Confirm all laboratories are cleaned after the lab session has ended.
- Manage compliance with all safety regulations in the labs.
- Provide support for faculty teaching lab in terms of supplies, document copying, etc.
- Perform other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Associates degree with some experience in an academic laboratory setting.
- At least one year of experience is required in an academic, clinical, or industrial microbiology laboratory setting.
- Working knowledge gained should include proficiency in microscopy, preparing chemical solutions, microbiological media, biochemical testing/staining, and maintaining a variety of BSL-I /BSL-II microbiologic cultures.
- A basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and nomenclature is preferred.
- Some supervisory skills are preferred.
Work Hours
Monday – Friday, 3PM to 11PM and occasional Saturdays.
