TITLE:
Events Manager (FLSA Exempt)

SUPERVISOR:
Director of Chevy Chase Country Club

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a minimum of a high school diploma.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess knowledge of food production and service and has the ability to perform all positions in event operations in order to supervise event personnel.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage and service procedures, generally involving three years as an event captain, server, dining room manager, or a any equivalent combination of education experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Guest Service experience essential.
  • Must possess a food sanitation certification.
  • Must have a valid IL driver's license.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
  • Must have T.I.P.S. and CPR/AED Certifications or be able to earn within 60 days.

SUMMARY:

Assists in efficient operation of the food and beverage services offered at Chevy Chase Country Club including all Event spaces, as well as related guest services through effective direction, leadership and supervision. Continually maintains and exceed all standards of service, guest satisfaction and staff development. Develop an environment within these areas, which encourages employees to be content, motivated and proud of the products and services provided by them, resulting in memorable experiences for the guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee and participate in the process of finding, interviewing, hiring, training and furthering the abilities of bartenders.
  • Assists with the staffing of servers, bussers and bartenders for all functions to ensure optimum guest satisfaction.
  • Assists in overseeing Banquet Captains and Event Servers.
  • Direct and communicate the BEO to Event Staff on timing of service throughout function.
  • Assists in conducting regular meetings for departmental staff.
  • Working directly with Sales Team Personnel, orders linens, liquor /beer for all events. Maintains the Liquor inventory.
  • Complete event tasting sheets for all tastings along with tasting set-up. Follows up after the tastings on any guest menu changes with the Event Sales staff.
  • Attend weekly Catering Meetings.
  • Schedules Event staff and or contractual staff to ensure event service.
  • Works with vendors and collects Certificates of Insurance.
  • Liaise with the Event Sales Director to ensure quality and accuracy of set-ups within all event rooms.
  • Inspect and/or safely set dining and serving tables as instructed by Event Sales to ensure that it follows the event order (BEO and floor plans).
  • Update any BEO changes after final check-in with the appropriate software system and personnel.
  • Assist the guest by introducing yourself and contact information after the final check-in. Event Managers are the main point of contact to the guest after the final check-in.
  • Final check-ins need to be conducted with the guest and the Event Manager the week before the event date. Event Managers will be responsible for any last-minute changes.
  • Assist with the service of food, beverages, and duties as needed.
  • Become familiar with the computer systems and technology currently in use in the various food and beverage areas, and administration as it relates to food and beverage.
  • Assist Sales Office in co-ordination of their sales efforts as they relate to events.
  • Plan, and schedule the guest check-ins.
  • Ensure all staff that have direct reporting to events follow all standards, policies and procedures of Chevy Chase Country Club and the Wheeling Park District.
  • Be present at most or all events and functions.
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Direct the final breakdown of the function room and assist staff where clean up may be needed.
  • Solicits and documents guest feedback regarding event functions.
  • Performs job safely in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work, and safety rules.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
  • Attends all meetings when appropriate.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists in planning menus and themes of event functions.
  • Assist as needed in the event sales office to cover phones and guest tours.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned including preparation of written and/ or verbal reports.
  • Attends meetings when required.

SAFETY:

  • Conducts all work in a safe manner, including using personal protective equipment and safety devices as required; identifies and reports any real or potential safety hazards.
  • Ensures participation and compliance with required and optional relevant employee training programs as defined but limited to State, Federal, OHSA and PDRMA.
  • Collaborates on the development and then implements Emergency Response Plans for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Oversees the investigation of critical safety incidents or accidents and develops appropriate response for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Anticipates and plans for potential safety issues when planning programs, activities or special events.

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary $44,500-$55,500
