The Executive Director leads the organization in growing the research department, fostering relationships with Semmes Murphey physicians to promote research opportunities, overseeing fundraising initiatives, and building strong ties to the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with the Foundation Board of Directors to identify prospective Board members, to engage them in the research efforts of the Foundation, and to keep them informed of the progress of current and future programs
- Establishes and implements short and long range organizational goals, policies, budget and operating procedures to support the financial health of the organization
- Collaborates with the Foundation’s research management to promote, support and sustain their research programs
- Actively markets the Foundation to attract Semmes Murphey physician support, additional research projects, and raise community awareness by sharing the Semmes Murphey story
- Oversees development efforts of the Foundation, including the major gift fund-raising program, planned giving program, donor relations program, and grant procurement
- Maintains and supports a highly successful staff to carry out the Foundation’s mission
- Stays connected with the local healthcare community through active networking
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or related field
- Five (5) years’ experience in a non-profit leadership role or Healthcare Management
- Previous supervisory/managerial experience
- Knowledge of the Clinical Research environment preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficient in basic accounting, budgeting and contract negotiations
- Understanding of the rules and regulations for a non-profit organization
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), software applications and internet navigation
- Excellent communication, both oral and written, with the ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to tactfully interact with all levels of the organization; can successfully network through business and social channels
- Ability to lead and inspire others
- Holds self highly accountable and is comfortable with making independent and difficult decisions
- Can manage various responsibilities with multiple deadlines and competing demands
- Ability to review and analyze reports, summarize information, identify trends and recognize anomalies
- High level of confidentiality and discretion
- Ability to travel periodically as necessary, both locally and out of state

Visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care assessment activities is required with the ability to move quickly in response to patient needs.
