Job description
Powell and Associates is looking for an experienced, reliable, hardworking Framing or Trim Carpenter for different construction and manufacturing projects. You may work on a variety of projects, including cabinet making, framing, decking, window and stair customizations, crown molding, and baseboard installations. You will be responsible for layout, installation, repairing, finishing, and maintaining various structures, fixtures, and buildings. Other duties will include designing, cutting, and measuring materials according to a client's requirements. Our ideal candidate has an aptitude for precision and can accommodate unique build requirements from clients.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately measure, cut, and shape lumber, wood, and other building materials.
- Perform finish and trim carpentry work according to plans and specifications.
- Install foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as: wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials.
- Measure, cut, and install various fixtures and millwork for doors, windows, ceiling panels, staircases, decking, furniture, etc.
- Erect scaffolding or ladders as needed.
- Perform repairs on existing framework structures that are damaged or structurally unsound.
- Analyze blueprints and drawings to determine the structural dimensions of the framework to be constructed.
- Analyze construction plans to identify potential structural problems.
- Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications.
- Perform cleanups of job sites by clearing away all carpentry debris and waste.
- Collaborate with other carpenters, subcontractors, and supervisors to complete projects.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues with building components and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Proven experience as a carpenter with an excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
- Physical strength and stamina for lifting equipment and working at various heights and in tight spaces.
- Sound knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
- The ability to interpret blueprints.
- The ability to safely use hand and power tools, operate machines and other equipment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Effective troubleshooting and communication skills.
- Must be punctual and reliable.
