DESCRIPTION
New long-term opportunity available through UC San Diego’s Temporary Employment Services. The Experiential Learning Specialist provides administration and outreach of two cutting-edge tools to enhance the student learning experience by promoting engaged learning and developing career-readiness competencies at UC San Diego. The tools include: 1. an online Co-Curricular Record (CCR) which allows for verification of completed activities that are posted with their associated competencies to the student’s official transcript and; 2. a REAL (Research Experience and Active Learning) online database which catalogs a variety of co-curricular opportunities that students can apply for to enhance their professional development beyond the classroom in real-world settings on- and off-campus.
The Experiential Learning Specialist works with faculty, administrators, staff, and students across campus to allow more sophisticated academic advising and career planning by mapping a student’s co-curricular activities to the UC San Diego Competencies, a set of transferable skills, abilities, and educational achievements when applying for graduate school or jobs. Collaborates with the Experiential Learning director, faculty, and colleagues to ensure co-curricular opportunities in the CCR and the REAL are accessible to all UC San Diego students, especially those who have been historically marginalized because of limited financial resources and/or biases toward race, age, or disability.
Promotes the CCR and REAL portal across campus by identifying opportunities within academic curriculum and department co-curricular programs. Works with Career Services to maintain alignment with the UC San Diego competencies. Works with external vendors to maintain and improve the REAL and CCR databases, including integration of new services and contract negotiations. Leverages the CCR and REAL portal to help shape the campus culture by integrating them in existing processes.
- Anticipated Duration: 6 months
- Compensation: $26 - $31 / hour, including paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.
- Location: Hybrid remote work arrangement available with 3 days per week on-site required. Will be fully on-site during initial orientation and job training period. On-site work will be at the main La Jolla campus.
- Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (may require occasional weekend or evening hours during August - September)
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a diverse range of individuals inside and outside the organization.
Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
Experience with working with external vendors, and acting as the liaison to understand stakeholder needs and work with vendors to make enhancements.
Proven experience as an effective public speaker, making presentations to small and large groups.
Experience with website development and proficiency in working with online campus management systems.
Multicultural competencies, knowledge, and experience working and interacting effectively with diverse groups of staff, faculty, and student populations.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $48,900 - $102,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $23.42 - $48.99
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
