The 4-H Youth Development Department is part of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, which is home to seven other academic departments, five extension departments, approximately 150 faculty members and 1,800 students.

THIS IS A NON-TENURE TRACK POSITION:

statewide programs.
Serve as a liaison and provide relevant FCS curriculum, training, and program support to county faculty, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
Maintain a close working relationship with statewide agents in the 4-H and Youth Development department and work collaboratively with other state Extension specialists/state agents, University researchers, and county faculty in developing and implementing multi-disciplinary activities.

Publish research in appropriate outlets.
Acquire and sustain external funding as needed to support, develop, and implement 4-H Youth
Development programs in the areas of FCS.

Report youth development program impacts annually, write a 5-year Plan of Work, develop
annual goals and objectives and complete other reports as required.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree (awarded by hire date) in Family and Consumer Sciences, Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Health, Nutrition, Child Development, or closely related field. Minimum 5 years experiences as a county Extension agent/educator is also required.
- Must be knowledgeable and have experience or coursework in the area of youth development. At least one degree in FCS programming area.
- Must be knowledgeable in the areas of informal and formal education and youth development.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret current research findings and make related practical
recommendations to county faculty, volunteer leaders, and youth in diverse communities
throughout New Mexico.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement youth development programs.in the areas of FCS.
- Experience with program evaluation and reporting outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and publish youth related FCS curriculum. Proven record of writing, securing, and maintaining grants.
- Must be able to effectively interact and communicate (oral and written) with people of all ages,
incomes, education levels, ethnic backgrounds and other areas of diversity and to develop
culturally-relevant curriculum and non-formal educational programs to meet their needs.
- Knowledge of the most up-to-date Extension and other delivery methods to best meet the
information needs and accessibility of the very diverse target clientele associated with this
position, including innovative social network and other electronic media outlets.
- Experience working with youth in both urban and rural communities; possess a clear
understanding of factors impacting participation in youth programs for both communities

Special Requirements of the Position
Willing to work evenings, weekends and travel within state and out of state as necessary.
