Position Summary:

Our Chicago branch of NSI is looking for a highly motivated, driven, and detail oriented External Manufacturing Manager. The role will consist in the supervision of third party packaging operations while having a variety of responsibilities surrounding supply chain management. As the ideal candidate, you will have established and proven relationships with third party facilities for a minimum of 4-5 years with a solid background in supply chain and operations. You will have ambitions or experience working in a “startup” environment where multitasking and prioritizing are essential for success.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the Director of Operations
  • Manages, schedules and supervises packaging operations
  • Prepares Production Briefs and Debriefs regarding target goals and productivity analysis
  • Builds and sustains relationships with co-manufacturers; maintains positive relationships at each facility
  • Aids in developing efficient, cost-effective supply chain strategies (value-stream mapping) and company inventory (cycle counting, EOQ and safety stock)
  • Performs physical inventory counts
  • Enters production data and inventory transfers into ERP system
  • Helps manage relationships and operations of warehouses and inventory layout of 3PLs
  • Oversees production efficiencies and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensures operation processes with production, quality and logistics are functional and effective
  • Implements root cause analysis and corrective actions as needed
  • Travels 20-40% to contract manufacturers

Education requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Masters preferred.
  • CPIM, CSCP and/or CLTD certification is a big plus.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years experience in Supply Chain with Food Manufacturing
  • Valid Driver’s License and an excellent driving record
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills (bilingual in Spanish is a plus)
  • Strong systems skills including MS Office and ERP systems, SAP Business One preferred.
  • Flexibility to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with a sincere team spirit.
  • Excellent accuracy in data entry, data management, documentation analysis.
  • Persistence in obtaining and validating co-packers' production reports, and capturing the data into ERP system.
  • Speed and accuracy in executing administrative tasks to keep ERP system matching physical transactions.
  • Analytical skills combined with a sense of urgency to ensure impeccably disciplined data management.

Work from home/Remote:

  • Remote work available but candidates must be local to visit contract manufacturers
