Overview:Job Summary:
Certified Welders have the responsibility of completing various welding and fabrication projects in a shop setting. Materials include carbon steel, alloyed and low alloy steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Required to have knowledge of the materials to select the correct filler materials and shielding gas when following the Weld Procedure Specification (WPS). Produce welds and assist in the development process of generating Weld Procedure Specifications as mandated by welding codes and specifications.

Must read and understand engineering drawings and welding symbols, fabricates manufacture-welded parts from engineering drawing without direct supervision.

Certified Welders also inspect, troubleshoot, repair, clean, and maintain new and existing equipment and/or systems. It is essential for the certified welder to communicate with other team members regarding the status of projects and to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:Roles and Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to the list below.

• Knowledge and ability to position, layout, fit up, cut, and weld material in accordance to shop drawings and directions from supervisor.
• Ability to read blueprints strongly preferred.
• Bolts, clamps and welds together metal components of products such as piping systems, plate, pipe and tube or structural shapes, using MIG or TIG
• May weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead position
• Operate tooling and equipment such as a torch, plasma arc cutter, grinder, pipe bender, press brake, etc.
• Work safely in a shop setting around heavy equipment including ironworkers, press brakes, forklifts, overhead cranes, etc.
• Load and unload equipment and materials.
• Maintain tools as required to perform job.
• Performing all job duties following company safety rules and proper use of all personal protective equipment.
• Capable of setting weld machine parameters and maintain weld machine in working condition

Qualifications:Skills and Qualifications:

• Must have 2+ years welding experience.
• Ability to weld in 1f to 4f and 1g to 5g positions preferred.
• Ability to weld MIG and TIG on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Must have current applicable welding certification or be able to successfully pass a weld test.
• Those with an education and/or work-related credential from a secondary or post-secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret all AWS basic weld symbols and typical welding symbols.
• Comprehend a Bill of Material to determine necessary materials and requirements.
• Frequent use of basic hand and measurement tools.
• Ability to detect unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from work.

Physical Requirements:

• Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours.
• Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and able to lift up-to 50 or more pounds frequently.
• Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
