About the Job:

The Facility Manager directs activities of service hub and coordinate movement and storage of customers’ raw materials from suppliers or finish goods from manufacturing plants through our service center network. Responsible for managing the layout design, planning, maintenance of equipment and building.

Location: Chicago (on-site)

Shift: 5:00pm EST-2:00am EST (Monday-Friday)

What You’ll Be Doing:

In this role you will perform functions including:

  • Directs oversight of facility culture and staff with input on hiring, training, scheduling, development, etc;
  • Oversees inbound tracking, receiving, processing, delivery, put-away, cycle count, and inventory control procedures by supervising picking, packing, timely staging of outbound orders and proper allocation of resources among business units;
  • Prioritizes and controls workload in and out of the facility in order to meet customers’ transportation shipping/receiving schedules by working with account managers to ensure smooth flow of product into the facility while maintaining accurate inventory control of freight;
  • Ensures employees follow operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling, and disposition of merchandise, and keeping of warehouse inventory;
  • Ensures the accurate and timely preparation of reports regarding facility operations;
  • Maintains a profitable and professional relationship with carriers and looks for new opportunities for carrier development when possible. Directly manages his P&L with support from Area Director;
  • Works to improve safety record and looks for new opportunities to maintain a safe working environment by conducting or facilitating safety training as needed or required and ensuring employees follow safety procedures while maintaining proper inventories of PPE stations;
  • Works with customers to resolve anomalies in the supply chain;
  • Identifies and implements continual improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the position, team, and enterprise;
  • Work very closely with vendors to ensure maximization of resources by developing and maintaining relationship with vendors by negotiating and making sure contracts are fulfilled.
  • Monitors, deciphers, and reports out on Facility key performance indicators (KPI’s)

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Transportation/Logistics, related major and/or 4+ years of comparable work experience; OR a high school diploma and 6+ years of comparable work experience.
  • Broad experience in warehouse management and operations in a medium sized warehouse operation.
  • Experience in a leadership role managing warehouse employees, dock coordinators, and/or specialists.
