Title: Lab/Field/Additive Manufacturing (AM) Service Technician

Lab/Field/AM Service Technician involves testing and troubleshooting new and existing Hilliard products. The technician will test and work on production and prototype projects. The technician will travel and perform field service work. The technician will be responsible for running, monitoring and cleaning parts on the AM machines. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ensures the component testing is completed properly, well documented and conveyed to the requestor. Collects all relevant data as directed by Engineering. The Technician shall be responsible to submit a report on testing performed as directed by Engineering.
  • While performing field service, represents The Hilliard Corporation in a professional manner and install/repairs the customers’ equipment to the best working condition possible while onsite. Follows all safety requirements in place by the customer and use best practices while working.
  • Understands basic electrical circuit theory and is able to use a VOM.
  • Understands hydraulic circuits and components.
  • Uses hand and power tools proficiently. i.e., Sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc…
  • Able to read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Assumes general Lab responsibilities which include upkeep and work area cleanliness as directed by supervisor.
  • Responsible on prototype projects to identify parts, assemble product, and test per Engineering’s instructions. Able to communicate any problems to Engineering.
  • Constructs test rigs and fixtures with Engineering’s support for the purpose of testing and evaluation of prototypes.
  • Drawings and sketches for manufacture of parts for the test rig will be the responsibility of the Technician.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Take direction from the AM Manager and work with the various engineering departments to schedule parts on the AM machine and run per request.
  • Monitor the AM machines while running and keep machines running as efficient as possible.
  • Clean AM build area and clean and tumble parts as necessary.
  • Keep track of AM build materials and let AM Manager know when materials need to be reordered.

Requirements:

  • Basic welding and fabrication skills a plus.
  • Accepts direction from Engineering and customers while performing field service.
  • Auto Cad, Inventor, Creo and MS Office preferred.
  • AS Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Domestic and International travel required. (Must be comfortable traveling to non-English speaking countries)
  • Maintain cooperative and open communication with all personnel and departments.
  • Able to perform duties as assigned in an ever-changing fast paced environment.
