- Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Accounting, Finance, Business Management, etc.
or a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the positions duties and responsibilities.
Experience Required
- Minimum of one year of direct experience with, and high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft Word®, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint.
Job Objective
This job opening is for a Financial Analyst for DHS’s IHSC.
The ICE Health Services Corps (IHSC) exists within the organizational structure of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) under the supervision of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps Officers, civil service staff and contractors comprise the healthcare professionals working together to provide quality healthcare services. IHSC serves as the medical experts for ICE for detainee health care.
IHSC’s mission is to provide medical care to maintain the health of individuals in the custody of ICE through an integrated health care delivery system, based on nationally recognized correctional, detention and residential health care standards. The Agency is committed to providing healthcare services to protect the nation’s health, reduce global disease and provide medical support for the law enforcement mission of the safe apprehension, enforcement and removal of detained individuals involved in immigration proceedings. IHSC is committed to ensuring a system of care that is ethical, responsible, and accountable through rigorous surveillance and monitoring activities.
Responsibilities
- Apply resource management principles and practices in order to perform a wide variety of complex financial management and accounting system functions.
- Analyze and reconcile installation or command-level financial reports, resolve problems, and implement policies and requirements.
- Provide professional management accounting advice and recommendations to Command program managers and budget analysts regarding problems found in current and future operational efficiency.
- Review major financial programs for accuracy, completeness, and effectiveness of financial operations.
- Prepare both regulatory and non-regulatory resource management, financial management and cost reports.
- Utilize computer software programs to develop charts and worksheets to depict financial status or comparative analysis.
- Prepare and present briefings on various financial policies and procedures and participate in and conduct meetings at all levels of the organization
