Production (manual labor) – Entry Level Union Job

Burd & Fletcher – Independence, MO

We are a manufacturer of paper board products from folding cartons to formed paperboard cups, in business for over 130 years and family owned.

Burd & Fletcher is now hiring for 1st shift (Monday-Friday 7am-3pm), 2nd shift (Monday - Friday 3pm-11pm) & 3rd shift (Sunday – Thursday 11pm – 7am) plant positions scheduled for 40-hour work week, union job, may require mandatory overtime. This is a union job.

Gatherer - Essential Function: (2nd shift only) Makes corrugated cardboard into boxes and sends it on conveyor to receive the final product from the gluer machine. Once the box is filled with the final product, he/she inspects cartons for any flaws, every 15 minutes, pulling out any flawed products and sending the box down the conveyor. Continuous stand, grasp/pinch, reach, rotate, pull, push, walk, & lift (up to 15 lbs). Attention to detail, ability to maintain a clean work area & keep up with production line is needed for this position.

Feeder - Essential Function: (1st & 3rd shift openings) Load product into Final Finish Machine. Average production: 15 pallets per shift, 40 stacks per pallet, 600 stacks per shift. Frequency based on 8-hour shift. Full stack weighs 65 lbs.; Employee may self-select to lift less than full stack; Lifting less than full stack increases repetitions. Must be able to lift (consistently 30 lbs.), push/pull (up to 65 lbs.), grip, reach, bend/crouch, stand & walk on concrete, climb, rotate, hand & foot coordination & occasionally sit.

Requirements: Must be at least 18 years old & submit to a background check. Must also have reliable transportation & a good work ethic.

Pay starts at $17.03, raise at 30 days to $18.41. There is an additional $0.55 per hour for 2nd shift, or $0.75 per hour for 3rd shift.
