This is a salary exempt role.

Position Summary:
This role, within the Technical Flavor Science division, is responsible for supporting NA Flavor Creation by assisting management in the resolution of raw material issues, troubleshooting production batches, and developing material substitutions during market shortages.

Job Description:
  • Facilitates the resolution of raw material issues through proper testing protocols in appropriate flavors, evaluation of analytical results, coordination/communication with applicable departments, and documentation of results.
  • Compounds batches for evaluations of alternate raw materials/substitutions, performs alternate raw material evaluations, and maintains documentation.
  • Collaborate with production to find more efficient ways to produce batches, while maintaining quality and cost guidelines.
  • Participates in formula review process to assure formulas adhere to standards of manufacturability, efficiency, and best practices.
  • Interacts extensively with various departments including but not limited to Procurement, Analytical, Production, Regulatory, Quality, Flavor Creation, Applications, Sensory, and Customer Service.
  • Contributes to resolving flavor quality issues by trouble-shooting and utilizing root cause analysis.
  • Validate and qualify batch changes.
  • Oversees scale up and qualifications of plant runs for NJ Flavor Team & ERL Team.
  • Rationalizes raw materials & stock room for ERL Flavor Creation.
  • Assists in the Product Transfer process for flavor creation.
  • Collaborates with Global Raw material harmonization team.
  • Follows basic GMP, ISO Procedures, GLP, Safety, Lab Notebooks and/or other electronic records keeping tools
  • Performs other duties as directed by manager.
  • Competent in learning all global systems and electronic notebooks including RDSAP, WILDWARE, LEAD, SALESFORCE.com, CRM.

Job Requirements:
  • BS, or higher, degree in Food Science or related field; with 5 years of experience.
  • Knowledgeable in flavor raw materials, food/flavor regulations, and processes utilized in the production of raw materials, flavors, and food.
  • High school diploma or Associates degree with a minimum of 10 years of appropriate lab experience in the food or related industry or have received certification from the Society of Flavor Chemists, Inc. for a flavorist.
  • Verbal, writing and formal presentation skills
  • Must be proficient in computer software, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and have the ability to quickly learn new systems as they are implemented.
  • Must possess analytical, problem solving and experimental design skills.
  • Must be highly adept in prioritizing and time management.
  • Must have the ability to comfortably and successfully navigate complex and ambiguous situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing, walking, sitting, and lifting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Lab, office & plant environment.
