Job Summary

Critical Supply Solutions, Inc (CSS) is looking for a DOT Safety and Risk Solutions analyst or consultant or employee to join our team! The position will collaborate to a high degree with Logistics operations personnel, and stakholders, and will require the ability to quickly respond to questions and/or concerns, develop solutions and escalate issues as required. The role must be able to work independently, with minimal direction and a high level of creativity.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible to assist to lead and monitor development, implementation, standardization, and management of multi-state/international DOT Compliance Programs, DOT Driver Qualification Files, DOT Drug/Alcohol Programs, Vehicle Maintenance, Hours of Service, other DOT drivers and manager programs
  • Insurance reporting and Analysis
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for DOT related to Transportation monitoring emerging trends, programs, and issues
  • Analyzes data and provides direction for opportunities to improve safety performance, improve quality of coaching and improve driver scores for at risk behaviors.
  • Oversees and Audits incident, accident, and work-related injuries investigations, accident reports, accident files, accident register, and follows up with the claims office and adjusters as necessary.
  • Typically determines fault or preventability based on the facts identified at the scene. Provides post-accident counseling with drivers. Retrains drivers, Safety Supervisors, Trainers and Managers as necessary.
  • Flexibility to manage and meet milestones for multiple projects.
  • Applying principles and practices of hazard management including risk assessment, hazard analysis and/or threat and vulnerability assessments.
  • Partner with Logistics Managers, Insurace Carrier, Stakholders to develop, refine and report on the key metric scorecard to internal management
  • Assess and evaluate Logistics accidents for trends and recommend improvement opportunities to the Logistics Managers
  • Provide support to the Logistics team to monitor and ensure FMCSA compliance
  • Analyze, develop, and manage continuous improvement and maintenance of the Transportation Safety Policy (FSP), safety programs, policies, and procedures
  • Assist to establish and monitor hiring qualification standards, background verification and physical qualification standards for DOT fleet drivers and managers
  • Develop, administer, and implement a DOT driver curriculum and training program: new hires, remedial, post-accident, ongoing and annual refresher
  • Monitor and evaluate DOT driver qualification and “High Risk Drivers”. Advise management on proactive interventions and/or driving restrictions/limitations
  • Conduct incident investigations, root-cause analysis, follow-up, and closure of action items
  • Work with Logistics Operational teams to implement and manage a proactive, behavior-based approach
  • to safe driving, with a strong emphasis on Personal Responsibility and Incident Prevention
  • Assist to communicate and educate others on DOT and Safety topics
  • Internal and external responsibility of all compliance with FMCSA regulations.
  • Visit locations to further educate on DOT Safety policies and procedures.
  • Assess permit requirements across the country to ensure Logistics is compliant with FMCSA and local jurisdictions
  • Other duties as assigned relating to Compliance, Saftey, & Insurance
  • drug/alcohol testing; fingerprint checks; DOT physicals; TB Skin tests; motor vehicle records checks; I-9 forms).
  • Development of KPI
  • Ability to manage personal in department and produce optimum results of team members and reports
  • Coordinates with local first responders and staff from state and federal agencies such as the Highway Patrol, State Department of Transportation and the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Flexibility to manage and meet milestones for multiple projects.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience communicating with truck drivers a plus!
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a courteous and professional manner; written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high level of detail.
  • Proficient in Google docs
  • College degree preferred or some college coursework completed
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, and ability to learn the Company’s Transportation Management System and technology software (Prezi, Flowcharts) and programs
  • Proactive and self-started personality with solving problems capabilities
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry
  • Knowlage of insurance matters & reporting
  • Capable of communicating well with others and work in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Ability to solve problems and management skills

Must Have Permanent Work Authorization in the United States
