Job Description: The Flex Operator provides support/relief to manufacturing operations team(s) of the site. This role will perform in the areas Receiving, Extrusion, Batching, Packaging, and Quality Technician. The role functions as a member of an area team that is directly responsible for the efficient production of quality products in the required quantities.
Principal Accountabilities: Operates Extruder, Batching, Packaging, Lab equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Performs tasks such as CCP checks, line checks, inspection of date codes, item numbers, dump logs, waste logs, MOS sheets, etc.
Demonstrates high degree of ownership for product quality: Performs all standard quality checks & other quality related duties
Understands production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions and production inventories
Monitor activities on the production lines, immediately reporting downtimes to team lead or maintenance or line manager when downtime cannot be corrected by the operator.
Assess equipment reliability and performs routine repairs, adjustments and troubleshooting
Meet training timetables for given role
Meet expectation of a fully trained backup
Provide not only coverage but be prepared to offer points of Continuous Improvement
Problem solving to root cause level.
Performs and/or works with Maintenance to complete equipment preventive maintenance
Perform all quality checks as defined by product specification each hour.
Isolation, segregation and re-evaluation of materials deemed to be non-compliant with regard to established specification
Conduct both routine and non-routine collection of test data; sending and receiving analytical samples and results as well as communicate process problems and troubleshooting
Technicians must honestly, neatly and completely in a timely manner document their observations so informed decisions regarding quality can be made

Additional Responsibilities:
To be able to cover vacation, sick time and any other need for coverage that may arise on or across multiple shifts.
Participate in site “Continuous Improvement” projects as appropriate.
Other special assignments as requested by the line manager and the site leadership.
Key Functional Skills/Knowledge:
Good communication skills.
Good math, reading, writing skills and ability to set bin strategies.
Maintain a clean safe work environment that promotes associate safety and product integrity.
High level of mechanical aptitude and knowledge, with good skills in troubleshooting and problem solving.
Excellent housekeeping skills and knowledge of GMP’s.
Good knowledge of personal computers, use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Ability and willingness to develop demonstrate self-directed workgroup leadership and contribute to efficiency, quality and cost optimization with minimal supervision and a positive attitude.
Ability to lift 55lbs.
Ability to work under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, heights, dust, dirt, chemicals and /or confined spaces and have full mobility with ability to climb ladders and stairs and do repetitive bending and twisting.
Forklift certified or the ability to certify.
Interpersonal skills to work in a team environment through effective teamwork, self-management with a positive attitude and minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced working and application development skills in Microsoft Office
3+ Years in a manufacturing environment
