Role Summary:
The purpose of this position is to provide forged product produced on crew-serviced drop hammers and die forgers. These positions operate a variety of work centers comprised of multiple pieces of equipment arranged in work cells. A variety of products are produced using combinations of forging machines and auxiliary equipment contained in these cells.
Key Accountabilities:
- Setup and operate all machines and equipment in this work center.
- Make adjustments as necessary to produce acceptable product.
- Must be able to set up and run a variety of trim presses.
- Verify quality of product by the use of manufacturing prints and gauges.
- Must be able to work in a crew and fast paced environment.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment as required for this work center.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Competencies:
- Must be able to interpret documents such as manufacturing prints and work order packets.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Success Measures:
Ability to interpret drawings and work order packets to setup equipment and run acceptable product.
Qualifications:
Previous forging experience preferred. Most maintain a safe work environment, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
Special Position Requirements:
The employee is subject to an environment that is fast paced and physically demanding. Significantly dangerous conditions generated by heat and impact are present in this work center. The employee is exposed to the hazard of mobile equipment moving in close areas. High noise levels are present in most areas the employee works.
Work Requirements:
Must be able to use calipers, gauges, air wrenches and other measuring instruments.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to stand for long periods and walk between pieces of machinery. He/she is required to lift objects ranging from 1 to 40 lbs. on a regular basis and operates in an environment influenced by the heat generated by the forging process. The employee must have the ability to climb on and off a forklift. Substantial movements of the arms, wrists, hands, and legs are essential in the operation of this equipment. Some stooping and bending are required. Must be able to use calipers, gauges, air wrenches and other measuring instruments.
