Job Description:
Job Summary
The FP&A Analyst is responsible for creating the foundation of FP&A products and services by updating forecasts, analyzing financial results, and communicating the financial story to Accounting and FP&A Business Partners. This position will provide the opportunity to develop experience in the fundamentals of Southwest's financial performance, Continuous Improvement practices, automation techniques, and reporting best practices.
Responsibilities
Variance Analysis: Review financial results, comparing and analyzing actuals versus plan, forecast, and prior year to analyze the cause of variances, identify trends, and monitor impacts to key performance indicators
Close: Partner with Accounting to provide input to monthly and quarterly financial close process; ensuring accurate, complete and timely data and reporting
Drivers/meaningful variance story: Partner with other Finance Business Partners to understand key business drivers, then based on financial results document findings, insights, and implications to the overall business
Run models/update plans: Gather and document inputs and assumptions from Finance Business Partners to update models and financial plans
Run & Distribute Reports: Execute, maintain, and enhance reporting for Companywide and Department financial reviews, business performance reviews, and forecasts
Communication: Communicate and align with Financial Business Partners on results of business performance and financial forecast changes
Version control of scenarios assumptions and outputs: Document inputs and outputs of the financial forecast scenario
Audit: Audit and test financial data quality and outputs to ensuring the highest degree of confidence in forecasts and reports for internal and external reporting
Process Improvement: Continuously improve and help streamline processes
Ad hoc requests as needed
Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Strong attention to detail and strong analytical ability required
Working knowledge of financial modeling and analysis
Working knowledge of planning applications, business intelligence tools, SAP or other financial systems
Ability to translate data and analysis into compelling written and verbal communication
Demonstrated ability to collaborate projects
Fundamental business and financial acumen
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Required: Bachelor's Degree - Finance, Business or related qualitative or consulting field preferred
Experience
Required: 2 years of relevant work experience with Bachelor's degree
Required: 6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of Bachelor's degree
Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
