The Helper Bees (THB) was created to fill an obvious need in an underserved community. Inspired by love and brought to reality through passion and determination, The Helper Bees was founded to empower older adult citizens and their families in their search for quality, affordable in-home care providers. We do this by providing older adults the ability to easily review, choose, and access affordable quality in-home helpers.

The Helper Bees mission is to help people stay home longer through data-driven services that transform both the payer and the care-recipient experience.

As a Staff Engineer you will be working as the technical lead to continually improve our tools and processes. We maintain multiple SaaS products through our web applications(internal and external facing), a mobile app, and reporting integrations. At The Helper Bees, you will iterate quickly, have high impact, and be challenged to design innovative solutions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of The Helper Bee’s React, Django, Python codebases

• Communicate across department teams to design, build, test, and implement new features and enhancements

• Produce quality, testable, and maintainable code

• Collaborate within the development team to help each other grow

• Assist in refining and improving our development processes: deployment, on-call systems, sprint planning, etc…

• Dig in and understand complex problems, interact with stakeholders, product team, and operations team and have tradeoff discussions to build a viable solution.

• Quickly isolate and debug complex issues within code

• Work on developing scalable and optimized software systems

• Mentoring and coaching junior level developers

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must be located within the United States and authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Education and Experience:

• An understanding of best software development practices, patterns, and architecture

• Experience building with REST APIs

• 2+ years of experience with React

• 4+ years of experience with Django

• Strong experience with the following or equivalents:

• JavaScript

• TypeScript

• Docker

• Google Cloud

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
