What you'll do on a typical day

The Communication Faculty position is full-time with teaching responsibilities at both campus locations (Mocksville and Thomasville). There may be opportunities to teach a Communication class at a local high school. Classes are offered during the day in traditional face-to-face modalities, online, and hybrid. The Communication Faculty is responsible for designing and implementing learning strategies for students; developing course syllabi and instructional materials; maintaining instructional records; implementing strategies for student retention. This position reports directly to the Dean of Academic Programs at the Davie Campus.

· Maintain a high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment; is inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds

· Perform other duties as assigned that achieve the mission and initiatives of the college

· Support the mission, vision, and values of the College

Your attributes

Minimum Qualifications Required:

· Master’s degree from an accredited institution, with 18 graduate credit hours in Communication

· Skill in the use of computers, Google Workspace, and a commitment to the use of technology in instruction

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Ability to work effectively and collegially with others

· Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:

o Translating College purpose, values, and vision into organizational action

o Collaborating and facilitating

o Creating and innovating

o Anticipating and responding to change

o Providing vision and leadership

o Assessment of student learning

o Engagement and assessment of successful student retention models

Preferred Qualifications:

· Dual teaching fields (18 graduate hours in more than one discipline)

· Community College teaching experience

· Experience using an Learning Management System, such as Moodle, to deliver course content

· Experience with online instruction

· Experience using equitable pedagogical strategies
