The family will guarantee pay at 40 hours/week, even in the case where the nanny is given unrequested time off, when the family vacations or ends a day early.

Children:
The family has two daughters who are 10 years old and 3 months. Through the school year, care is predominately for G3mos. She is easy-going and sweet. She loves engaging with people and just starting to laugh. G3mos enjoys books, reaching for toys in her play gym and hanging out for tummy time. She also enjoys going for walks, whether in the carrier or stroller. The parents are working to guide G3mos toward routine with flexibility. She is breastfed and bottle fed. Currently she naps 3 times during the day – mid morning, after lunch and later in the afternoon. These naps vary in length but at least one long one (1-2 hours). G10 is a great kid, kind, funny, conscientious, responsible and very self-sufficient. She enjoys rock climbing, walks, riding bikes, swimming, art and reading. Her best friend lives directly across the street, so they are back and forth a lot. G10 goes to her mom’s house on Mondays after school but will be in the nanny’s care after school 4 days a week, Tuesday – Friday; during the summer and holidays breaks the nanny will provide full-time care for G10. Her bus arrives each day at 3:00 p.m. She jumps right into snack and homework, then plays. Nanny should be comfortable that G10 sometimes prefers they/them pronouns.

Family values:
The parents’ leading value is compassion for other people, both in their home and work lives. They are both big believers in independence and giving their girls freedom to do things. They are not ‘helicopter’ parents and as they grow want them to make their own path, make decisions independent of others and do the right thing, whatever it is. They enjoy spending time together whether that is an activity outside the house like going to the museum center or just at home playing a board game or watching a movie. They like to talk a lot which inspired “tea & biscuits” with G10 where they simply drink tea and chat. The parents often take them along to cultural events, political events and music programs. They enjoy hiking and canoeing and spend the summers at the pool. G10 is a people pleaser and rule-follower. When it comes to guidance, the parents have found that she appreciates clear rules and is willing to follow them; she wants to do a good job. They try to have open communication with her while realizing she may be sensitive to your disappointment. Both parents do civil rights work. They mostly work outside of the home, though Dad may work from home on occasion in a separate office. They have a good amount of control over their schedules, though court dates will be pretty set and reliability is important. When asked the best thing about parenting, Dad says he loves playing on their level, just being silly and enjoying their sense of humor. Mom enjoys all the magic childhood brings and getting to relive that through their eyes.

Duties include:
Basic care and clean up after children. Children’s meal prep. Children’s laundry. Keeping the house picked up and orderly, wiping counters/table, vacuuming, putting stuff away, etc. Transportation to activities.

Pets:
The family does not have any pets.

Covid Approach: (4) Moderately Open
Leaves home for work, exercise, shopping, and other activities as desired. Regularly socializes with more than 10 unique individuals outside their home. May invite a small number of trusted visitors, like neighbors, close friends, or family members inside the home. Practices hand-washing and wears masks sometimes. May not always maintain social distancing.
*Both parents are fully-vaccinated

Hopes:
Ultimately, the family is seeking a professional long-term nanny who is trustworthy, safe and nurturing. The nanny should have experience working with infants. An ideal candidate is someone who is positive and supportive of both girls to engage them where they are at. The family requires a 1 year commitment, but could see the role being needed for the next 2-3 years.
